Approximately fifty vehicles have been covered with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a statement.
Officers report they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.
The liquid had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then found numerous other marked cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.
Officials report initial examinations indicate the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; investigators are presently not informed of any physical harm in connection with the event," they commented.
Municipal representatives announced they were working "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the residents for tips.
An important representative commented the incident rendered him without words and required to be solved rapidly.
"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, referring to the death of nine people by a assailant focusing on residents of migrant background in 2020.
